Controlled Cultivation of Peanuts (Arachis hypogaea) with BPC600H
At the National Biological Breeding Innovation Center, under the leadership of Academician Zhang Xinyou from the Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, our BPC600H plant growth chamber was employed to cultivate Arachis hypogaea (commonly known as peanut), a major leguminous crop with significant agricultural value.
Peanut plants prefer warm climates, longer growing seasons, and sandy soils with moderate rainfall. Optimal growth occurs between 20–25°C, while flowering and pod development require consistently higher temperatures. Seed maturation typically spans 7–8 months, making stable, precisely controlled environments essential for successful cultivation.
To replicate field-like conditions, the BPC600H using Spectrum 5 at 100% light intensity, delivering 700 μmol/m²·s of photosynthetically active radiation. Environmental parameters were set at a temperature of 28°C and relative humidity of 60%, ideal for supporting vigorous plant growth and seed development.
The BPC600H, with its 603-liter effective volume, advanced temperature (3–45°C) and humidity (50–90%) control, and high-intensity lighting system, provided the research team with a reliable and flexible environment for precise experimentation and breeding.
